Creative Critical Reflection

Creative Critical Reflection 1.      How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?   Today’s world is filled with unnecessary negativity. Our commercial challenges this social issue by showing the spread of joy. Literally, our final post-it note is revealed to say, “spread joy”. I think it is important to show that even small acts of kindness or caring can turn someone’s day around for the better. It is conventional for people to not really talk or interact with strangers, even if you see that they are not doing well mentally. This commercial goes against this convention through displaying acts of kindness to people that you don’t even know, and not trying to get some sort of credit out of it. 2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text? Our product engages with the audience by depicting how our product enhances people’s day. Post-its are a commonly used thing. Whe

Final Product

We finally finished! After lots of hard work, we have our final product. And, I might add, it exceeded my expectations! This project has been a fun ride. As a group, we worked hard and did well together. We used everyone's individual skills. And as a whole, we completed the whole puzzle of this commercial. I had so much fun. I enjoyed bonding with my team. I am excited for our next project!

More Editing!

Today we continued to edit our commercial. We had to decide on what song to put in the background. The background music may seem like an easy decision, but it is not. It is more than just, "what song do you like?". The music has to be family friendly, captivating, and appropriate for the commercial. So if I were doing a commercial on drunk driving incidents, I would not use a happy song. However, for my group and my project, we want a light, jumpy song to go along with it. At first, I suggested the song Tequila, obviously excluding the part that names the alcohol. We debated this idea, and I even suggested we could set it up so that the part that says "tequila" would go as we zoomed out and revealed the post it with a heart of post its around it. I said we could do a voice over of us saying "post-it!" and layer it over the "tequila" part to have it be there instead. We were close to doing this idea, with a 3-1 vote for it. However, we realized t

Today was editing day! Our group worked as a team to edit our master piece. I had all of the videos of our commercial on my phone. We worked as a group to decide which clips we would be keeping for our final product. Once we had decided, I sent them to our group chat for my group members to save them. From there, we began to edit. Mila is our designated editor due to her experience. I helped her to put all the clips together to make our commercial perfect. Upon finishing putting the clips together, Mila showed me the video. She and I realized that it was over 20 seconds, and that it needed to be cut down. As a group we worked and I helped her identify parts that were not necessary and could be shaven off. Once we had finished shortening our commercial to its proper length, we thought we were done. Little did we know there was still work to be done! I pointed out that some transitions were a bit unclean. As a group we picked out which ones we wanted to pretty up. I helped Mila with the

Today we filmed again. We had to refilm most of our commercial. This was because it was not long enough. Mila was not here today, so we had to improvise a little. Nicole and Dara did most of the filming. We went to the senior patio to film our first and second scenes. The first one we redid Nicole opening the lunchbox and finding the post it note. We made a bit longer. We also compressed it into one scene instead of having a cut. This added some time, which was needed. Then, I had to dress up as a boy again, due to what we drew in our story-board. The problem was, I didn’t have Mila’s jacket. So I used my own. We took a few takes panning over to me sitting on a bench alone. Nicole would walk over to me and hand me the note. I would then read it and walk away. We experimented with ways I could walk away. We tried a slight jog, a little skip, and then just a regular walk. After a few funny bloopers, we settled on just doing a happy walk. We re-filmed Dara taking off the sticky note fro
