More Editing!
Today we continued to edit our commercial. We had to decide on what song to put in the background. The background music may seem like an easy decision, but it is not. It is more than just, "what song do you like?". The music has to be family friendly, captivating, and appropriate for the commercial. So if I were doing a commercial on drunk driving incidents, I would not use a happy song. However, for my group and my project, we want a light, jumpy song to go along with it. At first, I suggested the song Tequila, obviously excluding the part that names the alcohol. We debated this idea, and I even suggested we could set it up so that the part that says "tequila" would go as we zoomed out and revealed the post it with a heart of post its around it. I said we could do a voice over of us saying "post-it!" and layer it over the "tequila" part to have it be there instead. We were close to doing this idea, with a 3-1 vote for it. However, we realized that with all of our busy schedules, we wouldn't exactly have time to do this. So, instead we used the song Blitzkrieg Bop, which is an uplifting "move around" type of song. We even got it so that the first "Hey ho, let's go!" lines up with the part where I (dressed as a boy) get off the bench to go somewhere. It gives the illusion that we can hear the music in the commercial. It also gives off the sense that post-its give you a reason to get up and do things. We are all happy with our commercial, and are excited to show off our finished product! All in all, it was a great day of editing.
