More filming!

Image
Today, Parker, Siena and I completed some more filming. So far, we had some outside scenes done at Dara's house. Today we filmed at Parker's house. We were debating over which things to film. At first, we figured we would finish the outside scenes. However, we realized that the setting would be different. We wanted there to be no plot holes. Ultimately, we wanted consistency. So, we decided we would film other parts. We had to do scenes where Dara is not present, since she was not there to film. We realized that the initial scenes were perfect for this. Not only did they only have one actor- not Dara- but they also are the first scenes of the film. It also is a good opportunity to plan out more of our title sequence structure. We used the props that members did research on it. We had to create the fake blood, which proved to be a rather challenging yet fun task. Parker even spilled some on her shirt and had to change clothes! Once we had filmed, and re-filmed, the title sequen

A tad bit of editing

Image
We began editing today. Some of the clips were a little bit too quiet. At first, we did not know how to solve this problem. Fortunately, I figured out that we could just adjust the volume for all of them. We did that through an app. I helped to compile all of the clips that we had done so far. We used the app iMovie to do this. We set it so that certain transitions were used. We used a whole assortment at first. That included fades, slow fades, quick cuts, etc. We ended up changing some of them later to fit more of the mood. We actually used quite a few quick cuts rather than fades. This surprised me because I did not initially think we would. I thought we would use more smooth transitions to make it flow. However, the abrupt transitions actually ended up working. They fit right into the scenes. They also played into the thriller genre we are trying to capture. Overall, we did not completely finish editing, but we made some headway. Perhaps in the future we will change the stuff we ha

Missing Filming

Image
Today, my group mates will be filming some of the scenes for our film. They will most likely be doing the inside ones today. Unfortunately, I will not be able to film with them. They will be doing it without me. We had multiple filming days get canceled or rained out due to Florida's risky weather. So when three of us could do it today, we decided that it was ok that one of us could not be there. I will be going on a trip today, and be on a plane for many hours. This means I will have a lot of time to think about this project and decide how I will help more because I will not be there today. I will probably do a lot of editing. When all of our scenes have been filmed, I will compile them. I will also put the music over them. Any special effects we want to add, I will add in. I have to learn how to do this, though. The time I have on the plane is a great time to learn. I will research good editing apps and websites. I will also watch YouTube videos on how to edit well. I want our f

Plans cancelled

Image
Today we were going to film the parts of the film that are inside. We were going to do the title sequence. We were also going to film the end scenes that are inside. However, we did not get to film these today. We had to cancel our plans to film. We had a group member say they had something come up, and it was essential that everyone be there. We will have to reschedule for a different day. We will either film on Wednesday or Thursday. There is an upside to this. While we were planning on filming today, this cancellation actually helps a little. We did not have all of our props together. We would have had to make the fake blood on the spot. This is not awful, but having the extra time to make it is nice. Also, we will now have more time to plan out exactly what we will film. Before, we had a general idea. Now we can have an exact plan. Also, we will be sure to bring all items necessary. When we film, we will probably film some time during the day, or after school. The fact that we jus

Music Selection

Image
Today my groupmate Siena and I began looking for music to use in our scenes. We were talking about what type of music we would want. At some points, everything is normal, and at others, there is the thrilling aspect of the film. We decided that she and I would split up the search into two genres. Our genres of music were sinister, eerie music, and regular background music. She researched the first and I the second. For my music, we would use it in the beginning scenes. The two girls are just sitting and having lunch, so I was thinking the music would be relatively normal. I began my research by looking up upbeat music for background music. This actually did not prove helpful. All of the music that came up was odd elevator music that just did not seem right for the scene. As I continued my search, I found that most music I found while searching up things like that were similar. I continued to look for music. I looked on Spotify as well to see if any playlists had what I was looking for

Beginning Filming

Image
Today was our first day of filming. We made some progress, but we had many issues to face. We filmed the parts outside and about to go inside. We filmed at Dara's house because she lives by a big bustling city. That is exactly the setting of our scene, so it was convenient. The weather however, was not ideal. It was actually quite windy. This made it a bit harder to hear when Dara and I as actors were talking. Also, it is spring break for many colleges, so there were very many people there. More than we had expected. This constant and loud chatter was not very helpful in getting the camera to pick up our voices either. We ended up actually relocating to a different area that had both less wind and fewer people. This made it easier to hear and understand the dialogue. This also solved another problem we had not seen coming. Our cameraman kept bumping into people while filming. But in our new location, it was easy to film with no disruptions. Yay for backup plans! Once we had filmed
