Title Design

The movie title we have picked is "Unfriended" The title will be in a bold, spooky looking font and will appear on the screen for 3-4 seconds and it will fade out. This title will take up most of the width on the screen, to ensure that the audience will see it. The color we chose was black because it stands out the most. The other titles will be in a different font from the film title, to make the film title stand out more. The other titles will be a normal everyday like font. They will also be black and will appear on screen for 2-3 seconds depending on the title. Every title, not including the film title, will appear in the bottom right corner of the screen. It will only take up a small portion of the screen, so that it won't distract the audience from the scene, but it will also be big enough to be read. The titles will fade out after their 2-3 seconds on screen. The name of the studio is "Berry Studios" and the production company is going to be "Four Gi

Planning Details

Location  Because our scenes take place in different settings, we have two main filming locations. Our first one will be Dara's house. We will film the first and last few scenes in this setting, varying between different rooms and areas of her home. The second location will be a downtown area of the city we live in. This will be for the scenes that take place in around the middle of our script. Where our two main characters meet up. This location is flexible and will allow us to achieve multiple angles and shots. Participants The only participants of this production will consist of our current group members. Dara Sedaka, Parker Merrick, Violet Roberts and Siena Pancera. We will all take part in different jobs to get it all done. Health We are taking different precautions to ensure everyones safety throughout filming. We all are taking covid tests prior to filming. As well as having adult supervision when handling the knives, and when going downtown. This way we will establish a s

We are researching the movie   Antebellum (2020)   using the website  https://www.artofthetitle.com/titles/   How Many Titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? Which Ones? Title Website Research

Image
I found the 'Art of the Title' website by searching for movie title sequences and stumbled upon this great website. When you open the link, the first thing you see is "2021 Emmy Nominations for Main Title Design". The writer acknowledges Studio King and Country for winning the Outstanding Main Title Design Emmy award. There is also a button that you can click that says "Title  Sequences" it shows you three articles about "Main Title Design awards", "Title Design Finalists" and an article about a film called "Rock Hunter". Besides these articles you can click on "view all titles" and it will show you hundreds of clips from movies showing the title sequence. Next to the first button "Title Sequence" it says "Design+Studios" then it shows a list of at least one hundred designers and studios. If you click on anyone you can read about the studio or designer of a film that shows a title sequence.

Genre Research: Us

Image
The movie  Us  (2019)   is a thriller/horror movie. This means it has conventions common for both of those genres. However, I will be focusing on the conventions that relate to our genre we will be using: The thriller genre. Camera Angles, Movement, and shots: There were lots of long shots in this movie. They were used to set the scene and to create tension by showing the character and the setting. There were also close ups to show the terrified looks on the actors faces. This created a thrill for the audience. Two shots were also common, usually between the protagonist and antagonist fighting.  Costumes: The "bad guys" wore distinct red suits to separate themselves from the other characters. The "good guys" wore normal day clothes such as jeans and t-shirts. Lighting: This movie had low lighting, which helped to create a scary mood. There was often flickering lights which created suspense, and sometimes there would be no light at all. Makeup: There was no extreme

The movie  Vivarium  (2019)   is a thriller/ mystery movie. We will be focusing on the conventions it has that are of the thriller genre. Camera Angles, Movement, and shots: This film showed many gods' view angles in order to show the strange eeriness of the settings the characters were trapped in. This makes the audience also feel trapped and scared for the characters. The director also made use of close up shots. the focus of the characters' emotions in these shots lead the reader in the direction that there may be something wrong. Costumes: This movie was about two normal couples that got into a weird reality so they are dressed in normal everyday clothes however the people already in that reality always wear suits, even the children.  Lighting: The director said he purposely made the lighting look artificial to achieve the sense of a sickening institutional feeling. Makeup: The makeup used in this movie was to portray dirt on a characters face, make them look sickly, or i

Genre Research: The 355

The movie The 355 (2022)   is a thriller/ action movie. This means it has conventions common for both of those genres. However, I will be focusing on the thriller genre.  Camera Angles, Movement, and shots: This movie made use of many dutch angles, tilting the camera for a purpose. It added a lot of tension to the movie, as well as creating suspense. This movie also used many over the shoulder shots. This type of shot was used to show reflections. It was also used to sort of differentiate between "good" and "bad" characters, by having both in the same shot, but from different angles.  Costumes: This movie was a bit of a spy movie, so the costumes were not exactly identical to ones we would use in our scene. The costumes consisted of a variety of dresses, suits, armor, street clothes, pajamas, etc.  Lighting: A lot of this movie was set in low lighting, which is common in thriller genre. It added suspense, and made it "thrilling". Also, this movie inclu

Deciding our genre...

Image
We have researched three main types of genres for this movie. Before our research, we had already had an idea of which genre we would choose. We had sort of picked out drama as an ideal genre. However, after extensive research, we as a group have changed our minds. Instead of choosing the drama genre, we think our two minute scene would be better suited in the thriller genre. While there were drawbacks to this genre, such as it usually involving gore, we decided that we can find a way around that. And although the stereotypes generally portrayed in this genre for women are not positive, we are the directors and are in charge. We can change the story line to make those stereotypes non-existent. Also, there are many appealing things to this genre. Our whole group wanted to have an exciting plot. Through the use of a thriller genre, this is possible. Also, the music in thriller genre is generally pretty uniform. In most thrillers, there is scary classical music with high pitched sounds,

Genre Research: Science Fiction

Image
There are many things that make a genre clear to what it is. For example, the genre Science Fiction has usually always has these factors to it. Camera Angles: Medium shot: This shot is often used to show at least two or more people/creatures. It shows their faces in good detail and allows  viewers  to see the emotions the characters are feeling.  Close up: This angle allows the audience to connect  with the character. It is more intense than a medium shot, often capturing only one whole character in frame. Extreme close up (aka reaction shot): This shot is perfect for very intense emotions. It shows us tiny details that  viewers  wouldn't have previously seen, and draws  attention  to what the director pleases. Costumes: Costumes in this genre often depend on the role the character is playing. If they are a creature like an alien, or animal we have never seen before, they usually have bright colors or strange attributes. These can include a lot of hair or a strange voice. Other c

There are many things that make a genre clear to what it is. For example, the genre Thriller has usually these factors to it.      camera angles:     - High angle/ Birds view : This is used in thriller to give the effect that whatever is being looked down upon looks vulnerable or powerless compared to what is behind the camera.     -close ups: This angle allows the camera to give a clear view of the characters emotions to the event happening .     - Tilted angle:  This adds tension to the scene at hand and sometimes signifying a supernatural occurrence. This also makes the audience feel like the character as they look up at the subject.     - over the shoulde r: This angle is often used to show something standing behind the character and usually used in front of mirrors so the audience can have a view of everything.      costumes     - Dresses ; this can create a sense of purity and femininity to the characters role. White dresses make the character seem innocent which later gets col

Genre Research: Drama

Image
There are many things that make a genre clear to what it is. For example, the genre Drama has usually these factors to it. Camera angles: Close up: Drama films often have close ups to show the expressions of the actors.  The close up makes it clear on how the actor is feeling through their expressions. It can make the scene more dramatic and express the intensity of the scene. Long shot: Long shots can set the scene for the viewer. They can show the background and give insight to what might happen in the scene, but they also keep some of the focus on the main character.  Over the shoulder: This type of camera angle can show the POV of the character which could be an object or another character. These types of shots add drama. Costumes:  Costumes depend on the setting and time period of the movie. Modern day movies set in common society have typical clothes we would see day to day. For example, business wear, dresses, jeans and t-shirts.  Lighting: The lighting in drama movies is ofte
