Filming Blog

 Today was our first day of filming. It went very well! We were efficient and got almost all of it done. It was actually very fun too. First we went to the senior patio to film our third, fourth, and fifth scene. We were outside, so it was very hot, but that's ok. We filmed Nicole taking a Post- It Note out of her lunchbox from behind, and then another shot from in front, without letting the audience see what the note says. Then we show her smile and stand up. It then cuts to me on a bench as I play a sad looking boy. In our story board, this character is a boy. However, no one in our group is a boy, and all the other groups were busy. We had to improvise. Mila lent me her jacket so I could tie my hair up and flip it over my forehead to give the illusion of short hair. Then I flipped the hood up to cover the pony tail, and I looked as boyish as I could. We filmed Nicole giving the note to me and me smiling like it brightened my day. Then we had to move to the bus loop area for our other scenes (not before we spotted about 6 roaches by our feet and fled). We filmed me sticking the note to a wall and then got a sort of smooth transition so that once the camera goes by my head, it reveals many post-its in a heart shape around the original one that says "spread joy :)". Then, we had to film Dara taking the post-it off the camera and writing something on it for the very start of the video. We were about to be done when we realized Nicole had accidentally had her school lanyard on during one of her scenes at the other location! With about 7 minutes left of class, we sprinted back and re shot the video (with a few takes) and then sprinted back to class to get our stuff just minutes before the bell rang (don't tell security!). Dara filmed most of the commercial, with Mila stepping in a few times. All in all, it was a fun day of filming and I am excited for our upcoming editing process.

A second opinion

 After a long journey with many ups and downs, our film is nearly to the finish line. Today, my group and I decided that a second opinion on our film would be a great idea. Mila said she would ask her mom to watch. Dara said she would ask her stepdad. Addie said she would ask her dad. I was going to ask one of my parents as well, but I realized I wanted someone less biased. I thought about the people I knew well enough to get a second opinion from, and whom from that group would be willing to give an honest review. I thought about my brother. Initially, I had passed that option off as being to biased because he is my immediate family. However, it occurred to me that he is actually very much into the film world. Pitching Ideas

 Our group came up with a few pitches for our project: Pitch 1: A little girl's imagination gets out of hand one afternoon. Pitch 2: A girl is doing homework when suddenly she finds a mysterious note left in her book for her.  Pitch 3: A young mom is driving to pick up her son from school, when out of the blue and friend from her past comes her way.  Pitch one is an ideal one for our group, as it can involve girl characters, and our group has four girls. This leaves us options for us to have someone to film, which is good so we don't have to go out of our way to find another cameraman. This, along with the fact that the wording allows for wiggle room, is a pro to pitch 1. However, we would have to take extra steps to find a little girl to play one of the parts, which adds a bit of a challenge, but I think our group is up for that. Pitch 2 is also a reasonable pitch for our group, because we can have one of us acting and the rest of us tackling other responsibilities. Howe...
